“Throughout my time focusing on my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to participate in an internship program dedicated to supporting underserved youth in one of the most economically challenged communities in Washington, D.C. This experience not only strengthened my leadership abilities but also allowed me to serve as a positive role model for young students navigating many of the same challenges I once faced. Through academic support, mentorship, and guidance, we witnessed meaningful improvements in students’ grades, school attendance, behavior, and relationships with their peers, teachers, and families. Most importantly, the program created an environment where students could learn from mentors who reflected their backgrounds, understood their struggles, and demonstrated that success through higher education is achievable. I aim to establish my own after-school program that empowers underserved youth through mentorship, academic enrichment, leadership development, and exposure to higher education opportunities. In addition to impacting teenagers, I also strive to provide college students with the same transformative mentorship and leadership experiences that shaped my own journey.”
